3 cups cake flour sifted
1 tablespoon baking powder
teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
1 cup butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Cooking Instructions

1) Preheat oven 350F.

2) Sift the flour with the baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Cream the butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir in the sifted flour alternately with the milk and vanilla, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

3) Pour the batter into two greased and floured 9-inch layer pans. Bake in a 350F over 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cake is lightly browned on top and springs back when pressed with your finger. The cake should show signs of pulling away from the sides of the pan. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and finish cooling on racks.
