1 pounds margarine or butter
4 cups sugar
2/3 cups Karo Syrup
2/3 cups Honey
2 tsp maple flavoring

1 cups ground nuts
19 cups quick cooking oatmeal

Cooking Instructions

While canoeing the Boundary Waters this was a great snack to give you the calories you needed to keep paddling all day.

1) Cream the butter, sugar, syrup, honey, and flavoring together. Then mix the rest of it.

2) Spread in a large sheet pan, 18"x26". Press it down into the pan. Bake at 325F in a convection oven for 15 to 18 minutes. As soon as the bread is taken out of the oven, use a spatula to press it down. This presses the bread together to reduce crumbling. Cut it while still warm.

For home sized preparation, cut this recipe at least in half. A conventional oven requires longer cooking times.
