2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup butter (no substitutes)
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk2 cups half & half
2 teaspoons vanilla

8 -10 wooden sticks
8 -10 medium tart apples
(white chocolate or almond bark)

Cooking Instructions

1) Insert 1 wooden stick into each apple. Use a fine sandpaper to sand the apples for better adhesion of the caramel. Rinse the apples.

2) In a heavy saucepan, combine the brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter. Use medium heat and melt the butter. Then add the milk; bring to a boil over medium heat.

3) Cook and stir until a candy thermometer reads 236:F, about 30 minutes.

4) Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.

5) Dip each apple into hot caramel mixture; turn to coat.

6) Holding by the stick, sprinkle with nuts or whatever you desire while the caramel is still warm (work quickly the caramel sets up fast).

7) Set on generously buttered wax paper parchment paperto cool.

8) If you want, drizzle some melted white chocolate or almond bark on and sprinkle on cinnamon. If there's excess caramel put a line of it on the parchment paper. Consider adding Maldon Salt on the top for some flavor.
