cup butter room temperature
1 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 ounces red food coloring
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
Waldorf Astoria Frosting

Cooking Instructions

1) Cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs to this one and a time.

2) In a deep bowl mix the red food coloring and cocoa to make a paste. Add this to the batter along with the rest of the ingredients. Beat until smooth.

3) Preheat over to 350F. Put batter in two 8-inch greased pans with wax paper on the inside bottom of the pans. Bake for about 30 minutes. Cool 15 minutes then remove from pan.

4) Frost with the Waldorf Astoria Frosting.
