sliced raw pork
sliced carrot
sliced bamboo shoots
sliced auricular "cloud ears" mushrooms
1 egg scrambled
chicken soup
black vinegar
white pepper
red chili paste
sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

1) Prepare starch by putting some starch in a small bowl with cold water. Put water and chicken soup into a pot and bring to boil.

2) Add pork, carrots, bamboo, and cloud ears and boil for 4-5 minutes. Add vinegar, white pepper, red chili paste, and salt to taste.

3) This is what makes the hot and sour, so add small amounts until you have it right for your tastes. Add the starch slowly until it is the desired thickness, stirring while adding. Add a little sesame oil.

NOTE: Cloud ears, black vinegar, and red chili paste can be purchased at oriental market.

Soak cloud ears 30 minutes before using.

The amount of each ingredient varies based on your tastes.
