Ingredients

cup poppy seeds
cup milk
cup butter
1 cups sugar
cup milk
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 egg whites beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Poppy Seed Cake Filling
Poppy Seed Cake Icing

Cooking Instructions

1) Soak seeds in milk overnight.

2) Sift the flour and baking powder together. Cream butter and sugar, then alternately add the milk and flour mixture. Add the poppy seed mixture and fold in the egg whites with the vanilla.

3) Bake at 350F for about 30 minutes in two 8-9 inch pans.

4) Use the Poppy Seed Cake Icing first to ice the layers. Then use the Poppy Seed Cake Filling to fill between the layers. Finish by icing the top of the cake and sides.
